News:
NSERC, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), announced the first Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications in 2015.
- NSERC and SSHRC researchers will be required to comply with the new policy for all grants awarded from May 1, 2015 onward.
- While CIHR-funded researchers will now refer to the new, harmonized policy, compliance requirements will not change for the health research community.
In 2025, the Tri-Agencies presented it's Draft, Revised Open Access Policy. The key difference will be the requirement to deposit peer-reviewed journal articles into a Canadian repository immediately upon publication of the article. There will no longer be a 12 month grace period.
