Course Reserves Service: Accessible Formats
Alternate Format Requests
Do you require course materials in accessible formats?
The Library is committed to providing equal access to our collections. We make the majority of course materials available as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) PDF or ePUB files, but we can fulfill alternate format requests for print reserves or other materials in our collection with a referral from your campus' accessibility services. We can work together to ensure any accessibility needs are addressed in a confidential and collaborative manner.
Textbooks
eBook versions of commercial textbooks (publishers like Pearson or McGraw Hill) are generally not available for libraries to purchase. Before purchasing a print textbook, check with the University Bookstore which sells e-textbooks through their website or VitalSource or online bookstores like Chapters Indigo or Amazon.
Under Section 32 of the Canadian Copyright Act, we are only permitted to create an alternate format (such as digitizing a print book) if it is not available to purchase in an alternate format designed to meet the needs of the person with a perceptual or print disability. If your required textbook is only available in print, we may be able to assist with an alternate format request or refer you to your campus accessibility centre.
