General rules
APA Style is based on the author-date system which requires citations to appear in two places in your essay:
- in the body of your text ("in-text citations").
- in the reference list (at the end of your paper).
The style is periodically reviewed and updated to better serve users. See APA's Guide to what's new for APA 7 for an overview of the latest style changes.
